What's covered

6 coverages your business might need

Not every business needs all of them — but knowing them avoids surprises after a claim. We help you build the right package for your situation:

🛡️
Foundation

General Liability

Covers customer accident lawsuits on your premises, third-party property damage, and defamation or advertising claims. Almost every contract and license in NV requires it ($1M minimum).

👷
Required with employees

Workers' Compensation

Covers workplace injuries for your employees (W-2 and sometimes 1099). Required by Nevada law for any business with 1+ employees. Fines up to $15,000 without it.

🚐

Commercial Auto

For trucks, delivery vehicles, food trucks or fleets. Your personal auto insurance doesn't cover commercial use — if you have an accident on the clock they deny the claim.

🏢

Commercial Property

Covers the building (if you own), equipment, inventory, furniture, tools and improvements. Damage from fire, theft, vandalism, storms. Essential for retail and restaurants.

📦
Bundle

BOP (Business Owner's Policy)

Bundles General Liability + Commercial Property into one policy. 15-20% cheaper than buying separately. Ideal for retail, offices, small restaurants and service businesses.

💻

Cyber Liability

For businesses handling customer data (cards, personal info). Covers data breaches, ransomware, data theft and legal costs. Increasingly important for small businesses.

Specific situations

Where other agencies leave you hanging

Three B2B situations where generalist agencies typically reject or overcharge. We solve these daily:

ITIN / LLC

LLC without owner SSN

For business insurance what matters is the EIN, not your SSN. If your LLC has an EIN — all should — we issue policies with your ITIN as owner ID without obstacles.

Food truck

Nevada food trucks

Segment we know very well. We know Health Department requirements, what to include in GL for public events, how to insure kitchen equipment, and the carriers that accept food trucks (many don't).

Contractor

NSCB-licensed contractors

The Nevada State Contractors Board has specific insurance requirements to issue and maintain your license. We know exactly what combination of GL + Workers Comp meets the minimums without overpaying.

How it works

From call to active policy: 24-48 hours

Business insurance takes a bit more than personal because there are more variables (annual sales, employees, location, equipment). Still, in 1-2 days you're covered:

Business analysis

Business type, years operating, approximate annual sales, employee count, location, equipment or vehicles. 15-20 minutes by phone or in office.

Tailored package

We quote with 4-6 carriers specialized in small business (Hartford, Travelers, Liberty Mutual, Progressive Commercial, etc). We present 2-3 real options with their differences.

Activation + certificates

You choose, pay the first month and we issue the Certificates of Insurance (COI) your clients, landlord or state license require. Instant email delivery.

Ready to insure your business?

Free quote, no commitment. If you already have business insurance, we compare what you pay with 5+ carriers and you only switch if we find a better price for the same coverage.

FAQ

What business owners ask us most

If your question isn't here, call us. Business insurance is complex but the answers don't have to be.

What type of business insurance do I need in Nevada?
Depends on the business. At minimum, almost every business needs General Liability to protect against lawsuits from customer or third-party accidents. If you have employees, Nevada requires Workers' Compensation by law. If your business uses vehicles, you need Commercial Auto. For small brick-and-mortar businesses, a BOP (Business Owner's Policy) combines liability + property in a cheaper bundle. We build it with you based on your situation.
Is Workers' Compensation required in Nevada?
Yes, in most cases. Nevada requires Workers' Comp for any business with one or more employees (with very few exceptions for single-member LLCs without employees). Not having it when required = fines up to $15,000 + personal liability for workplace injuries. Applies to both W-2 employees and, in some cases, 1099 contractors if the state considers them de facto employees.
How much does business insurance cost for a food truck or small restaurant?
For a typical food truck in Reno/Sparks, a complete policy (General Liability + Commercial Auto for the truck + Property for equipment) runs $120-$250/month. A brick-and-mortar restaurant with 5-10 employees runs $300-$600/mo adding Workers' Comp. Depends a lot on annual sales, employee count, and whether you serve alcohol (raises rates significantly).
I'm a contractor (painting, landscaping, construction) — what insurance do I need?
Nevada contractors typically need: (1) General Liability of at least $1M per incident to meet client requirements and NSCB contractor license rules; (2) Workers' Comp if you have employees or subcontractors; (3) Commercial Auto for your work truck; (4) Tools and Equipment Coverage for tools (professional tool kit is $10k+). We bundle as a package and lower the price.
Does my personal auto insurance cover me when I use my truck for work?
No. This is a costly common mistake. If you use your personal vehicle for delivery, transporting tools, picking up materials, or any regular commercial use and have an accident, your personal carrier can deny the claim and cancel the policy. If you work with your car or truck, you need Commercial Auto Insurance — more expensive than personal but legally covers you.
Can I insure my business if I'm an LLC without a Social Security number (with ITIN)?
Yes. For business insurance what matters is the EIN (Employer Identification Number) of the business, not your personal SSN. If your LLC has an EIN — and they all should — we can issue policies using your ITIN as owner ID with no obstacles. This is where we make a difference vs major agencies that reject these cases by default.
What if a customer sues me over bad service or a defective product?
For professional services (consulting, healthcare, beauty, accounting) you need Professional Liability / Errors & Omissions in addition to General Liability — because GL doesn't cover lawsuits for professional errors or bad advice. For physical products, GL typically includes Product Liability but we verify the limits. These coverages are inexpensive and save you from a lawsuit that could destroy the business.
How much General Liability coverage should I have?
Industry standard minimum is $1M per occurrence / $2M aggregate annually. That's what most commercial contracts, lease agreements and Nevada state licenses require as a baseline. For higher-risk businesses (heavy construction, public events, places serving alcohol) we recommend $2M/$4M or adding an Umbrella policy that multiplies limits for relatively little extra money.
